*** Congratulations to Phil and Mimi on the arrival, a few months back, of their son Cooper. I don't know any other details about the baby, so please don't bug me with questions. Also, I am not in touch with anyone who can pass on your congrats to Phil and Mimi, if you feel the urge to do so, please write a letter to the fan mail address posted throughout the site.*** Captured now has a release date of March 12, 2004. Let's see how long it takes for them to push THAT date back now.
*** Apparently there is no longer any such movie as The Sweet Spot. Sorry folks. I'll keep you posted if it resurfaces.
5-26-2003
*** The Untitled John Hamberg Project is now being called Captured but I haven't been able to find a more current release date, so I'll leave the old one up.*** Unfortunately my PSH email account is not accessible at the moment so I can't post the info on Long Day's Joureny Into Night right now. Sorry. (I also have articles and pictures I cannot access right now. Argh.)
2-15-2003
*** The transcript and pictures from Phil's appearance on The Caroline Rhea Show are now available here. However, I need to know the precise date that this episode aired. I got the feeling that it was in February since the opening has Caroline advertising Valentines candy and talking up romantic weekend vacation giveaway contests. Someone please tell me.2-14-2003
*** Cold Mountain has apparently wrapped filming and even has an Official Site but don't be fooled, there is no trailer yet.*** Phil is on the cover of the January/February issue of The Independent. I have transcribed the article and will scan the cover as soon as possible. Phil is also on the cover of MovieMaker magazine. But apparently they don't archive cover stories on their site. I will try to get a copy but if anyone can transcribe and/or scan the pictures, that would be great.
*** First hand account from the set of the Untitled John Hamberg Project reports Phil's character as named Sandy. Dude, they really need a name for this thing.
*** Publicity stills are now available for Owning Mahowny. So does this mean we might not have to wait an entire bloody year before it hits theaters for us poor folks not poncy enough to live in NY or LA????
*** Transcript and pictures of Phil's January 9th appearance on The Daily Show are now available thanks to a fabulous contributor who got me a copy of the appearance!
*** For those vultures I MEAN FANS who are interested in Phil's girlfriend Mimi O'Donnell, click on that link to read about Mimi and see her picture. The inside word is that she is due "VERY soon". Yay!

*** According to LAByrinth's site, Our Lady of 121st Street, the play by Stephen Adly Guirgis that is directed by Phil, should be beginning its off-Broadway run this month. All the info is here. It will be playing at the Union Square. Previews begin February 18th and run through March 5th with the opening on March 6th. Performances should be Tue - Sat at 8pm; Sat & Sun at 3pm; Sun at 7pm. Running time is 2 hours. Tickets run from $30 to $65 and are available through TicketMaster 212-307-4100*** Hear Phil "sing"! It's more like 'hear Phil yell and shout a lot' but it's still quite cool.
*** I saw 25th Hour and it is excellent. Also, a connection should be able to hook me up with a copy of Phil on The Daily Show so hopefully pics and transcipt from that should be forthcoming.

*** Since everyone is asking about LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT I will say that I have __NO IDEA__ how you can get tickets or where it is playing. WHEN I KNOW I WILL POST IT HERE. If you know, please let me know. This is what I posted a few months ago: "Phil is going to be in a Broadway revival of LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT by Eugene O'Neil (a rather famous play about a family of alcholics and their struggle to find happiness). It opens in the spring of 2003. Phil will play Jamie - alcoholic washed-out older brother to Edmund (Robert Sean Leonard). Vanessa Redgrave will play Mary Tyrone, the crazy mother, and Brian Dennehy will play James Tyrone, the father. Read the article here." And yes I am bitter because you can ask where and when it plays all you like but I sure as hell can't go see it and that just makes me sad.*** Phil has been nominated for Best Director in the 2003 Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Awards, for his London run of Jesus Hopped the A Train, which has also been nominated for Best New Play. Voting ends January 31st 2003 (today)
*** The Sweet Spot has been delayed again. Maybe one day, ten years from now, we will see it in the theaters and say 'Wow, remember when Phil was that young? Why didn't they release this back in like 2001 when it was filmed?'
*** Yes, that is correct. Phil's girlfriend is named Mimi and yes she is pregnant and last I heard she is due 'soon'. She is his girlfriend. She has been the costume designer for many of his plays with LAByrinth. What else do you people need? What do you 'what is up with' that? Shall I spell it out in crayon for you? He. Is. Romatically. Involved. With. Mimi (viz-> not you, not me). They are having a child together. She is actually going to give birth to the child, however, despite rumors that Phil has been carrying the child. This is all I know. If I am told more info I will let you know.
*** The 25th Hour has FINALLY been released to theaters in the US and is actually playing here where I live. Love Liza, however, is still hard to find. One of my local theaters ran a trailer for it but it's not playing here. What's happening with that? I do not know.
*** Please email me if you can transcribe and/or get pictures from Phil's appearances on The Daily Show or Caroline Rhea. Or the Charlie Rose show for that matter -- I know that I can listen to it online but I sure as hell don't have time to sit down and transcribe it so if someone is willing to do me this favor I would be forever grateful.

*** Kick ass! Phil will be on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central on the 9th.*** Phil will be on that wretched Caroline Rhea show on the 10th apparently. Oh joy.
*** Love Liza is currently on limited release in the US and no I have no fucking clue when the fuck it's coming to Miami Florida or wherever and I am so incredibly sorry that a film festival is coming there and that the release of Love Liza has something to do with that. Honestly folks, I'm not in charge of release dates and I only post what limited information I can get and it's no more privileged than yours so please don't bitch me out.
*** The 25th Hour will actually be released to theaters in the US on January 10th because release people are bastard people and insist on this 'only in select cities' bullshit with almost all of Phil's movies these days. Not that it totally and completely pisses me off or anything. Oh far be it from me. Bastards.
*** Apparently Phil is going to give birth to a baby very soon. Oh, excuse me, I mean that Mimi, his girlfriend, will be giving birth to this baby (though you wouldn't know that anyone else was involved from the way everyone, including Phil, is phrasing it) which happens to have been fathered by Phil. Cool.
*** In other news, yes, my name is DARYN and I would prefer to be called Daryn and not any other name that would indicate that my name is not Daryn. D. A. R. Y. N. Daryn. Pronounced like 'Darren'. You know? Yeah. That's my name.

*** The 25th Hour is in theaters in the US tomorrow.*** Phil was on The Charlie Rose Show on Monday, December 16th. Unfortunately since no one on the planet had the presence of mind to notify me of this and I am not telepathic, I missed this appearance. Did anyone tape it? Did anyone else on earth even know about it? There is a rumor that he spoke about the child that his partner is apparently going to give birth to. Details would be appreciated.
*** Miss Julie has been cancelled. Natasha Richardson apparently pulled out in order to do a film and thus enabled Phil's participation in Long Day's Journey Into Night.
*** The January issue of Premiere Magazine (with Viggo Mortenson on the cover) features not only a review and small still from Love Liza but also features a full page advertisement for the film.
*** Phil's episode of Inside the Actors Studio is scheduled to air on Bravo on December 20th and December 21st. Check local listings for details.
12-14-2002
*** Phil's name is now attached to Untitled John Hamburg Project -- which I believe I can safely say is the film that Phil has been shooting with Ben Stiller since late November. Other stars include Jennifer Aniston and Alec Baldwin. Though still without title the film has a preliminary release date of October 13, 2003. The film is listed by the IMDB as a romantic comedy and John Hamburg is known for writing the screenplays to other Ben Stiller films such as Zoolander and Meet the Parents.*** Owning Mahowny is scheduled to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival next month and is seeing a preliminary limited release date of May 2, 2003.
*** A reminder that next month Phil will be appearing on stage in the play Miss Julie. Performances start January 14, 2003 at the Longacre Theater in New York. Information should be forthcoming from this site in the near future. Also, the precise date is always subject to change.
*** Read the article from New York Magazine written on Phil and Gordy Hoffman from December 9th.
*** Read the article from BackStage.com written on Phil from December 11th.
*** And with these articles comes much more buzz and excitement about the possibility of Oscar nominations for both Hoffman brothers for Love Liza. And what do we say to that, eh? If it happens: ABOUT DAMN TIME.
*** Another thing to note: apparently there is no comma in 'Love Liza'. Do not do as I have done and commit the hideous sin of putting a comma in there. (it's not you, it's me. I have issues with all the mindless crap surrounding the precise spelling, grammar and words involved in the titles of Phil's movies. Case in point? Owning Mawhositwhatsit and what has become 'Punch-Drunk Love'. argh.)
*** Rumors continue regarding Phil's love life. The latest comes from pagesix.com and tells that her name is Mimi O'Donnell and she is a costume designer. Hmmm. Well, that's the rumor.
12-6-2002
*** The December 2002 issue of Premiere Magazine with Owen Wilson on the blue cover features a blip on Phil (his name is on the bottom left hand corner of the magazine cover). Click here to read the article and see the picture (which will also be posted in Truly Misc Pics)*** Phil has been shooting a new movie (untitled) with Ben Stiller. Photos are available on WireImage.com but I don't have a subscription so I cannot download them or post them here (the thumbnail sized ones are all but useless). Also, I haven't been able to find a Ben Stiller fansite that has been updated since this past summer so I have no other sources of information. I believe that filming has been taking place (and might even still be taking place) in Greenwich Village, New York, NY.
*** View the trailer for Love, Liza. Oscar consideration ads for Phil's performance in this film have also been appearing in industry magazines.
*** Ads are being played on US television for The 25th Hour and you ought to be pleased that Phil is billed immediately after Edward Norton. The film is set to premiere on December 16th, see release in the US on December 19th. International release dates, according to IMDB will be: Czech Rep -- 13 February; France -- 5 March; UK -- 7 March; Iceland -- 21 March; Argentina -- 27 March; Netherlands -- April; Norway -- 31 March; Austria -- 3 April; Germany -- 3 April.
*** Phil is going to be in a Broadway revival of LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT by Eugene O'Neil (a rather famous play about a family of alcholics and their struggle to find happiness). Read the article here.
*** Some folks from Rochester report that Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002 there was a screening of Love, Liza at the High Falls Film Festival in Rochester NY and the day was declared "Hoffman Brothers" day in Rochester New York by Mayor William Johnson. The proclamation was read and given to Gordy and Phil at The Festival Closing night awards ceremony. Also, on Sunday Morning Nov. 3, Phil took part in an actor's workshop in conjunction with The High Falls Film Festival.
*** The tentative release date for Owning Mahowny has been set for May 2, 2003
*** Rumors abound that Phil was on The Today Show on October 3rd this year. Anyone know anything?
*** Rumors are also flying my way that Phil and his forever-not-to-be-named (meaning that I do not know her name so leave me the hell alone) are expecting a baby. Fact or Fiction? Jonathan Frakes, where are you when I need you?
*** According to my good friend Nancy, here is a french site where you can see a couple of minutes of Last Party 2000 and the interview at Cannes 2002 with Emily Watson.
*** Also, I would like to retrospectively comment on the fact that Punch-Drunk Love has been and gone (pretty much) from theaters now.
