*** In the new 2000 Year-End Entertainment Weekly with Russell Crowe on the cover, there is a blip about Phil and JCR doing 'True West' as being one of the highlights of the year! There is a picture, but nothing you haven't seen already. The best bit, I think, is the ending of the blip -- "Hey, Malkovich, are you ready for a rematch?"
*** Go to your local or not-so-local mega bookstore and pick up the Jan. issue of Empire Magazine -- the one with George Clooney on the cover. There is a terrific article on Phil as well as lots of other good stuff in general [aren't Brit mags the BEST? yes, they are] I have the pictures here on the site now, thanks to Anne, and will soon have the article transcribed for you.

*** State and Main is now playing in select cities around the country. It got a good review in my newspaper. Naturally. *wink*wink*
*** MY SITE IS INDEED TRIPOD'S FEATURED ENTERTAINMENT SITE!!!! YEEE!!!! Oh my god!! I printed the page! I'm going crazy with happiness!!!! Here's what they said about me: "Darcy is known for giving unsung actors their Web dues. After seeing Philip Seymour Hoffman in Twister, she knew she had the subject for her next 'cyber-tribute.' Now, thanks to her cool site, the 'greatest actor on earth' is getting the props he deserves. And speaking of props, Darcy did it all herself; from handcoding the HMTL to creating graphics to support the articles, reviews, and definitive 'Phil-mography.' All that effort seems to have paid off . . . Philip made the cover of this month's GQ."
*** WOW!! The Elle article quotes me!!! Here's what it says as a prelude to when I actually transcribe the thing and post it [and yes, they DID get the URL dramatically WRONG!!!! damn them. and bless them. AND BLESS ME!!! hehe]: "Hoffman looks better off-screen than his roles permit. In the words of www.tripod.ddraven.psh, the well-organized Web site maintained by an adorgin fan, 'This man is cute!' ('Bless her,' Hoffman says)" heehee... Well, WOO!!!!! That is to say, yes. I will have the article up on the articles page in a moment and the two pictures are forthcoming. Promise. Gotta jet.

LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- Philip Seymour Hoffman is set to topline the Richard Kwietniowski-directed "Owning Molony" for H2O Motion Pictures and Alliance Atlantis. The project, a U.K. and Canadian co-production, is budgeted at $10 million and is slated to go before cameras in mid-March in Toronto and Atlantic City, N.J.
Hoffman will segue to "Molony" following work on two other features: "Love Liza" for director Todd Louiso, which was written by Hoffman's brother Gordy Hoffman and is scheduled to start production Jan. 8, and the untitled Paul Thomas Anderson comedy for Revolution Studios and New Line Cinema.
In "Molony," Hoffman will play Brian Molony, a bank manager who embezzled millions of dollars over the course of 18 months to feed a gambling habit. The story, adapted by Kwietniowski from a script by Maurice Chauvet, is based on the 1987 nonfiction book "Stung: The Incredible Obsession of Brian Molony" by Gary Ross. The book details one of Canada's largest single-handed bank fraud cases.
Alliance Atlantis motion picture production president Seaton McLean will produce the film with H2O's Andras Hamori ("Sunshine"). Edward Pressman and Sean Furst will executive produce.
The film marks the third project to come under H2O's three-year nonexclusive first-look deal with Alliance Atlantis. The other films are "The 51st State" starring Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Carlyle for director Ronny Yu, and "Morvern Callar" starring Samantha Morton for director Lynne Ramsey ("Ratcatcher"). "Callar" is in preproduction, and shooting is scheduled to start in early February for the United Kingdom's Company Pictures.
Other projects in development with H2O and Alliance Atlantis include "Hoffman," to be directed by Menno Meyjes, and "Marlowe," Natural Nylon's period drama that has John Maybury attached to direct.
Hoffman, repped by Paradigm and manager Davien Littlefield, will next be seen in Fine Line Features' "State and Main" for director David Mamet. His other acting credits include "Almost Famous," "Magnolia," "The Talented Mr. Ripley" and "Boogie Nights."
Kwietniowski directed "Love and Death on Long Island" and "Actions Speak Louder Than Words."

natalie has graced us with the following HOT HOT HOT report
By Claude Brodesser
HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Philip Seymour Hoffman is in final negotiations to join Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline in "The Seagull," Chekhov's play about the dreams and aspirations of dissolute Russians set at the turn of the century.
The production is being produced by the Joseph Papp Public Theatre, and is aiming to begin rehearsals in May or June. The Mike Nichols-directed "Seagull" had initially been planned as a staging for the open air in Central Park, but insiders say that Public and the actors are considering housing the production in a theater -- though whether that means a production at the Public or even on Broadway remains to be seen.
Separately, Hoffman is negotiating to reunite with "Boogie Nights" and "Magnolia" director Paul Thomas Anderson in an untitled New Line comedy also starring Adam Sandler and Emily Watson.
Hoffman recently played underground rock critic Lester Banks in DreamWorks' "Almost Famous"; he'll next appear in the David Mamet-helmed "State and Main," which will bow Dec. 22 in New York and Los Angeles via Fine Line Features.

*** Jadin writes: "I live in New Orleans and I keep hearing rumors that someone is making a film of John Kennedy Toole's book "A Confederacy of Dunces", and that Phil is playing Ignatius. Is this true? Oh what a godsend that would be if it were!" -- Any comments from the peanut gallery?
